Walton

John Walton

Born and raised Houston and a self confessed "know it all" Walton began talking on the radio as an all night weekend guy and hasn't shut up since.

Wore the monkey suit as a programmer and manager and met up with Johnson and fate in 1983 for a date with destiny.

John has been on the radio so long that he won't say what year he started in Oklahoma City while in college, but let's just say the Beatles breakup was still big news.

Weekdays 5am - 10am

Johnson

Steve Johnson

Mr. Johnson was also born and raised in Houston (don't hold that against us).

He once poured hot metal in a foundry and always thinks of that whenever working on the radio "seems too hard." Steve quickly learned that the ladies loved the radio guys.

Now it's true that these ladies might not always be the first ladies you would pick out of crowd, but hey, people always buy radio guys a lot of beers, so it all evens out.

Mr. Johnson's various character portrayals have kept him sane and out of therapy for many years.

Kat

Known in many circles as the ‘poor mans Julia Roberts’ and more recently- ‘the oldest first time bride ever’-Kat (real name- Katina) was born and raised on the beautiful seacoast of NH.  Where she quickly learned you do not need good grades or an education to be in radio. YAY!

So, here she is, 102 years later, 11 plus in New Orleans on the radio. She is still hoping to someday get that ‘real job’.

She has no goals really except to be able to fit back into a pair of jeans she got in 8th grade. A gal can dream.

1. At age 7, you wanted to be….?
A rhinoceros!  I was an extremely hyper active kid.  Eating on a rhino's appetite would give me the energy required to continuously butt people with my mighty horn....  I'm better now, thanks.

2. If you could have 3 celebs at dinner, who would they be (all living.  Dinner with dead people is gross.)?
Chelsea Handler: Have you watched her show Chelsea Lately?  She's hysterical!
Zach Braff: Always plays a dorky, white guy with a knack for putting his foot in his mouth; guess I can relate.
Janet Jackson: Just for the hopes of a wardrobe malfunction.

3. Were you good in school?
The aforementioned hyper activity got me in lots of trouble in grammar school; sitting still was a real challenge.  One of my specialties was spinning around to the back of my chair, then balancing my body on it.  Legs in the air, forearms placed on the desk; I'd start doing push-ups, right in the middle of our vocab lessons.  Let's just say I was sent to the school psychologist more than once.

4. What’s your favorite drink?
At the bar- Kettle One Vodka and Soda; I learned early that top shelf wouldn't hurt as much the next day.  Otherwise- Water; cuts down on the hangovers.

5. Ever committed a crime (even a small one)?
I took a left on Canal this morning.

Born and raised in N’awlins, which means in true Y’at fashion that I am also a pretty stout Saints fan as well…Who Dat Nation please rise. As a chern I wanted to be a scientist but lost the good battle to a few science textbooks here and there. Instead I ventured to the Windy City in order to test my skills at winter, at which I fared admirably. 3 years later I returned to my homeland with a college degree, a lingering school debt, enough experience in radio to persuade Kat and frostbite in my toes…except for the big toes, they pulled through and I’m damn proud of ‘em.

My favorite artist and as well as an inspiration to many is the late great Stevie Ray Vaughan My favorite color is blue always has been-anybody who says different is missing out. When I feel Uptown Brown I go for crawfish etoufee. Watching tourists put down Hand Grenades and then pay so costly for their error is kind of a guilty pleasure I’d say. One of the coolest things I’ve ever done is go to France for like a month. I enjoy watching local music on Frenchman.

Born in Central California to a Hawaiian mom and Irish father from Alabama. That should answer the "What is she?" question : ) Been in radio for just over 20 years and am grateful to still be able to do what I love. I got hooked on New Orleans culture many years ago. After stalking the city on a regular basis, I took a leap of faith and moved here. What's not to love about a historical city that eats well, has good taste in music and whose locals love to call each other "baby", "sugar" and "dawlin'". MAN, that never gets old for me. Love it.
I am weak for;

  • Frenchmen St. (The Apple Barrel)
  • Veggie noodle pho from PTB on the West Bank
  • Catfish Po'boys
  • a High Life and JBeam shot : )
  • Classic movies
  • Frye boots
  • Beautiful costumes
  • Super Sunday
  • Old, smelly book stores
  • Old, smelly record stores
  • Nick Cave
  • 80s hair metal (the 2 go together fine in my mish-mash world : )
  • Blues
  • Blues man clothes (Crocodile shoes, skinny pants, bright shirt and a hat...you know, pimp clothes : )
  • Fireworks over the Mississippi River on the 4th and New Year's Eve
  • Impromptu parades
  • Lists : )

Johnny - Bayou's #1 Gay

There may be another gay on Bayou, but let’s be honest…Johnny is the hotter gay and the only one that matters. Born in Paramus, NJ, it is no surprise Johnny turned out to be gay because Paramus, NJ is literally the shopping capital of the Northeast with more malls per square mile than anywhere else in the United States (seriously, look it up!). Obsessed with thinking he is fat, Johnny spends most of his free time running, working out at the gym, and trying to convince everyone he is still under 25 (which he is not).

Johnny’s been in radio since 1996, but the position of Bayou’s #1 gay is by far the greatest position he’s ever held…and trust us, we hear there have been many “positions” Johnny has occupied over his years in radio. Johnny also shares office space with Gonzo, who is subjected to listening to 80s dance music every…single…day (sorry Gonzo).

Johnny’s Favorites:
Sushi, chai tea lattes, cute clothes, working out, drinking, going to clubs, and spending time with his partner of almost 4 years!

Movies:
    * ANY Star Wars movie
    * ANY Indiana Jones movie
    * Kill Bill
    * X-Men
    * anything by Stephen King
    * political movies

Dislikes:
WAY TOO easy

Keep music alive...end auto tune. Save the djs because the internet, as cool as it may be, is not as cool as the classic rock dj with a sultry voice luring you to listen.

Give imagination back to the people! Free your minds & don't be sheeple. Nobody loves classic rock music more than me. I am trained in the Gibson guitar styles of Joe Perry and have shaken his hand, I've shared drinks with David Lee Roth, I've been on more hair metal tours than Aqua Net has filled the ozone layer. I've been on the front lines and slept on pavements to get tickets to some of the most important concerts the Bayou Nation has ever seen. I'm a rocker thru and thru.

Geaux with Suz and keep rockin' in the free world.
