Event Description:

The legendary Rock n Roll Hall of Famers from Texas will be making good on their promise of a rescheduled date for New Orleans by making a stop on their 2018 The Tonnage Tour at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans on Sunday, May 20th at 7:30PM.  The band previously had to reschedule their November 12th date due to bassist Dusty Hill’s stomach ailment.

The Tonnage Tour follows the release of "ZZ Top’s Live! Greatest Hits From Around The World" album from Suretone. A whopping 15 tracks recorded live across three continents, the album is notable for having collaborations with guitar legend Jeff Beck and blues harmonica great, James Harman, recorded in London, Nashville, Los Angeles and New York City. One of tracks is a heavy rock version of Tennessee Ernie Ford’s #1 hit from 1956, “Sixteen Tons.” ZZ Top’s take on the song is based on a mysterious YouTube creation attributed to Billy Gibbons, ZZ Top and Jeff Beck.  What started as “a mega meta sorta thang” according to singer/guitarist Billy Gibbons, flourished into a staple of ZZ Top’s live set and an inspiration for "The Tonnage Tour."

Billy Gibbons is looking forward to the new Tonnage Tour. “The run is Tex-centric, just like ourselves, and the band is looking forward to getting our heads in Mississippi, and points beyond,” he commented. “After 4 decades, we believe we're beginning to get the hang of it, so a mighty good time will be enjoyed by all.”
ZZ Top is notable for having one of the most consistently stable lineups in the history of rock music. Gibbons, bassist/singer Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard continue to impress audiences, drawing material from their 15 studio albums, with combined record sales of over 30 million records across the globe. The band rocks on with timeless hits like “La Grange,” “Legs,” “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Tush” keeping generations of audiences coming back for more.
